Co-founders Bonnie Kelly and Teresa Walsh don’t just create handcrafted sterling silver, but work with several individuals from around the world to get the style they desire. The main idea with Silpada Designs is to either host parties yourself, or find someone who is willing to host a party and bring all her friends. During your presentation you are able to showcase all the jewelry you have available in the kit you’ve constructed. How do you make a kit? Easy, since you’re a representative you enjoy a 50% discount on all your jewelry.
Keep in mind though; Silpada Designs explains that you have no inventory, so when you purchase it make sure the products you get are pieces you wear. We also saw that there are additional discounts as well depending on the amount of jewelry you purchase.
It’s also important to understand that this is not any sort of pressure selling either. The majority of women love to try on new jewelry, and when you mix this in with a girl’s night out, it’s more like an entertaining party. If by chance they like something, well then they will make a purchase.
We highly recommend reading over their common questions before you get started. Even though most of them are easy to find on their site, getting all this information in one place is a nice benefit. For instance; one of the first things people want to know more about is what types of commissions they will be making.
Instead of waiting though, we’ll just go ahead and tell you. The initial commissions will be 30% on all sales. Based upon the mathematical formula Silpada Designs shows on their site, you can earn around $75-$90 an hour working just six to eight hours a week. This is equivalent to 2 parties a week.
Most companies today seem to be looking out for numero uno, but Silpada Designs is involved in a charity. They sponsor the JDRF or Juveniles Diabetes Research Foundation. They’ve been doing this since 2004 and donate $1 for every polishing cloth that is sold. They only cost $5, and if you do become a representative, it’s definitely a great selling point.
