Costume Jewelry Pins
Nacre? Where can I get some nacre, for ‘painting’ and repairing ‘pearls’ on costume jewelry?
I have several pieces of costume jewelry that have little pearls on them. One in particular, a marvelous old pin, would look perfect if only the surface of all of the ‘pearls’ were complete.
I know that it used to be possible to buy nacre. I think this was crushed mother-of-pearl or even crushed pearls, in solution of some kind. The nacre would be painted over the surface of the ‘pearls’ to give them an authentic appearance.
