Easy Cast Resin Jewelry Molds
Jewelry: How to Make It
Ever wondered about jewelry and how to make it? It’s really rather simplistic once you define what jewelry is to you. If you’re the type of person who only sees jewelry as shiny, precious metal with equally shiny and precious stones then yes, making jewelry may be rather difficult and involved. But, if you can see a beautiful piece of handspun wool and think to yourself that you just might be able to see yourself wearing that wool as a necklace if only there were a bit more to it, then you’ll find jewelry making to be easy and enjoyable.
The first step in making jewelry is deciding what you consider to be beautiful as an object for adornment. It varies from person to person, but when it comes down to it, so many everyday objects and materials can be transformed into beautiful pieces of jewelry that one can hardly argue that a piece of paper isn’t jewelry. Think about what type of jewelry you tend to gravitate toward. Are you more of a necklace person, or do you enjoy earrings? Next, think about the skills you already possess. Can you fold origami? Consider making a pair of earrings that have been folded into an origami shape and sealed with a waterproof protector. Are you an excellent draftsman? Cut a shape our of balsa wood and draw intricate designs with a drafting pen and turn it into a one-of-a-kind pendant. Maybe you are excellent at making jell-o molds. If this is the case, consider casting resin with imbedded objects to make any number of jewelry items including rings, pendants, brooches or belt buckles. Yes, it’s cliche to simply say “use your talents” or “go with what you know” but in learning to do anything it really is the best way to start. Besides, your talents may not be considered the usual skills needed to make “good” jewelry and in turn you may end up making fantastic jewelry that no one has ever thought of before because they didn’t possess your unique talents that have been translated into the jewelry medium.
