Best type of jewelry for ear piercings? Sterling silver? 14k gold? Or?

I have 5 ear piercings on each ear starting from the lobe to my cartilage.

they’re all healed, ive had them for over 5 years..
I usually just have sterling silver in, never really had a problem with sterling silver but i do notice they tarnish after awhile. I have one pair that have never tarnished and its the same pair i got when i had my cartilage pierced. (FYI i do take them out regularly to clean). But im not sure what that untarnished pair is…. I forgot?? Ive had them for awhile.

I was reading something and people were saying sterling silver is not the best for long term wear.

So any advise?
I want to buy some studs that wont tarnish and wont like get absorbed somehow into my skin.. I donno if thats possible lol, just throwing it out there.

Sterling silver is pretty notorious for tarnishing and then discoloring the piercing site, which is why you don’t want to keep it in for a long time. Gold is good, never tarnishes and it’s basically a pure metal. You can probably find some surgical steel or even titanium, both are good.
