Jewelry Dsa

Are there real DSA opps out there, esp. drop ship, where one can honestly earn $500- 2000 a month part-time?
I tried Weekenders, but they changed the clothes and I wasn’t interested anymore. Some styles I like but not that many.
I also HATE the process of returns. (who doesn’t right?)
Also, a company that doesn’t have 12 reps in my neighborhood might be a better choice than one that did!
Also, I LOVE the idea of selling what I LOVE, but HATE the idea of building a team. (I’m into selling, not recruiting so much.) Help?
Health foods interests me; reading; not cheap jewelry; not home furnishings (more fun to shop for these, isn’t it?).
Is it possible to make money at these ventures?
It is absolutely possible. However the DS field is like any business start up, you just have a smaller start up investment because you don’t have overhead. People who come into DS thinking they will be making $500+ PT or $1000+ FT, per month need to realize it does involve work and it can take a lot of time to get there. Just as if you opened a brand new store in your local shopping center.
You must get customers, you must get risidual sales through repeat customers, etc.
From the Standpoint of the Company-
You need a company that doesn’t tie your hands. One that allows you to use the company name, one that allows you to sell not only at parties but one on one sales, craft fairs, website, etc. Where you don’t have to have a minimum to place the order.
You need a company that makes it easy for your customers to reorder from you or your website. Where they can shop easily from your website without having to register, etc. That is the first thing that pushes me away from a company site, if they want all my info just so I can see the products.
You need a company that provides training and support and DOESN’T charge you for it! Convention is one thing, but local training materials, online training, etc. You should never have to pay for a meeting. You are earning them money, therefore your training should be included.
You need a company with an adequate clear cut compensation plan, that has a COMPANY PAID hostess program, and that pays you based on your sales. (There are some that won’t send you a commission check until you reach a certain sales amount, ridiculous!)
You need a company that is with the DSA. That is for sure!
From the Standpoint on the Rep/Consultant-
You need to recognize that it will take work building a business. You have to get customers, they rarely fall into your lap. You have to be willing to open your mouth everywhere you go that you have this business.
While a bigger company with 12 reps in your neighborhood may be a saturated market, a company that is just starting out brings it’s own obstacles. There is no name recognition, no history, etc. Therefore you do work a little harder to get the name out there and build your customer base.
You have to realize that this is commission based, you get money on what you sell. This is completely up to you! You know your demographic, what is going to sell better? High priced items or affordable items? It is important to sell what you love, but if everyone you know loves something else well then sometimes we make compromises. LOL. What do they buy, what do they like and from there what interests you as well. Find that middle ground.
Access additional training on your own, there are plenty of successful DSers who have written books that are a wealth of knowledge.
Get out and mix it up. Go to networking parties, donate products to charity raffles/drives, talk to organizations about how you can provide favors or door prizes, etc.
Remember most importantly this is a business investment. It WILL cost you money to get started. Most new businesses don’t hit the black until their first 3-5 years have passed. If you are careful HOW you spend you can see profit fast than that in the DS field.
Don’t get caught up in the hype that you need tons of this and that from the companies that sell to the DSers. You need product to show, catalogs, business cards, labels or stamps with your info for your paperwork, order forms, samples (maybe) … just the basics. You don’t need personalized money bags, you don’t need pens with cute pics on them related to your biz, you don’t need extra prizes, etc. Your company has probably paid quite a bit of money researching what info/literature/supplies you will need.
And if you really want to make $ faster, then recruiting is the way to go. If you dont’ want to recruit, it will take you longer to get to that financial goal. That is reality. But there are people in DS who make good money and don’t recruit at all. And sometimes you don’t need to recruit, people see your success and they want a part of it.
When talking with someone in DS about joinging their company ask as much as you can upfront.
How much to start? What are the prices of catalogs, oppty brochures, samples? Who pays for the hostess program? What are the sales minimums? Do reps get a website and how much is it per month? What happens if I don’t make the minimums? What is the commission structure? What is the average party total (Not nationwide, but for your area)? What do you (the recruiter) think I absolutely need for my biz and why?
And you need to know upfront what you can put into that biz. How many parties per week can you do at most. What days are you willing to work? Then take a look at the financial goal you have. Based on their average party sales amount and commission structure, what will it take to get you there? How many parties? Does that # match the # you are willing to do? If not this may not be the company for you, OR you have to reconsider if you can up the # of parties you are willing to do.
