jewelry insurance damage
Home theft – what kind of coverage/support can we get?

My sister’s place was just robbed. They took $20,000 worth of stuff, including money, checks, credit cards, tv’s, furniture, jewelry. They tore up the place by ripping furniture, breaking closet doors and windows. Now they have some insurance coverage and they will cover only very of the house damage. However, they will not cover the lost of jewelry, tv’s, etc… basically everything that was stolen, what kind of support can be received, or what kind of coverage can they get to recover all this loss? Please help, I need some ideas.
They have Citizen Insurance (Florida)

You can not add insurance coverage after the fact to provide coverage for this loss. Just like you can not put a life insurance policy on your husband after he’s dropped dead.

Apparently your sister’s policy will cover vandalism to the structure but will not cover theft. Therefore, the insurance company can not pay for the items that were taken.
