I am recently divorced have questions on personal effects/jewelry to keep or hide away?

I am in my new home with my new partner. I have lots of nice things from my previous marriage (pearl necklace, some nice crystal pieces for holding jewelry, a shoe rack that the prior husband made me for example).

I have mixed emotions on weather to just put these away in a box or to keep them out and use them. They do hold some sentimental value. I am just questioning if it is illogical when something is nice and useful to hide it away just because of who gave it to you. Any feedback is welcome.

I think that you should use them, not only becuase they are practical and you need them; but also because of the sentimental value. Although the marriage didn’t work, it’s not fair to just hide those things, becuase when you recieve them they were given out of love and respect.
As for your new partner, if he really loves you, he will not mind. Your marriage is a part of your past, and although it did end in divorce, it still was a huge part of your life. There’s nothing you can do to change that, and it’s absurd to assume that if you get rid of few things, your association with your ex-husband will cease to exist. You should keep them just out of respect for your past.
