Welding jewelry?

My friend and I want to make custom lnks cuff her husband for his birthday. Tod wanted to weld a conclusion (New link bracelet) to a piece of fake jewelry. We used a soldering iron, but it took too long to warm and not hot enough to sustain fusion welding. I have to use a propane torch? Or what should we do? Thanks

You may need to invest in a better quality of welding. A very good is heats up quickly and keep the liquid solder. But as you do not say what type of iron you have, it's really hard to tell. However, a propane torch is a bit too much for the job.
